Raleigh, North Carolina - Marlene Lynch Sanders Jones, 70, of 211 Freeman Street, died December 28, 2002

Visitation and viewing, along with Delta Sigma Theta tribute: 11a.m.-12 noon, Saturday, January 4, 2003 at First Baptist Church, 101 South Wilmington Street.

Funeral service follows at 12 noon. Burial takes place at Carolina Biblical Gardens.

A retired biology educator in Wake County Public Schools,, Marlene was a very ative,vital, well liked and highly respected member of her community. As a teacher, she enriched the futures and positively altered the lives of her students. She expected the best from her students gave them her best, and believed that the stars were theirs for the taking because in her eyes they were capable of achieving the pinnacle of success.

Among her many affiliations past president, National Saint Augustine's College Alumni Association; past chairman, First Baptist Church Board of Trustees; past officer, Washington High Schoool Alumni Association; member, Raleigh Alumnae Chapter, Deltqa Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.; Retired Alumni Association of Saint Augustine's College.

Survivors; a daughter, Lauren Marlene Jones of Raleigh; six brothers, Ernest L. Sanders Jr., M.D. (Sylvia), of Garner, Robert E. Sanders II of Raleigh; Carl L. Sanders,Sr. (Fran Doyle) of Arlington, Va, Frank T. Sanders Sr. (flora) of College Park, MD; Maurice C. Sanders Sr. (Phyllis) of Greensboro, and John Earl Sanders (Bernice) Davidsonville, MD; three grandchildren, Kristen Danielle, Adrienne Carol, and Justin Charles Tucker, all of Raleigh; special friend, Richmond Wall of Raleigh; 11 nieces and nephews; five great-nieces and nephews; and numerous dear cousins and treasured friends.

The family will receive visitors at the home of Lauren Jones, 3037 Slippery Elm Drive in Raleigh.
